Professor / Artist:
I am an arts based teaching researcher who does work at the intersection of spirituality, photography, documentary film and social justice that amplifies the voices and stories of marginalized communities.
What it is I do?
- I create shared experiences with students that are innovative, revolutionary and transformative towards working for justice in the world with communities with which they connect.
- I work with artist / creatives / students to help them find their creative agency so that they can create work that amplifies the voices and presence of marginalized communities.
- I create bodies of work at the intersection of spirituality, photography, documentary film and social justice that amplify the voices and stories of marginalized communities.
Whom do I serve?
- I serve marginalized communities / people by co-creating bodies of work with these communities.
Why does it matter?
- It matters because the stories of marginalized people must be told.
What do I hope to achieve?
- The stories of marginalized communities will be told, heard and seen.
- People who hear these stories will take action to address the issues of injustice marginalized communities face and work to make this world a more just place.
- Inspire, develop and train a new cadre of storytellers.
- Measurable social impact with my work.
